When calling us. *UPDATED January 10, 2012* Our new phone system is operational now. Our system has three lines now, our phones are capable of making outgoing calls and receiving incoming calls now. During the day, someone in the office or around the monastery will try to answer calls. If we are at prayers or busy, our automated attendant will take the call and offer you a menu of choices and enable a transfer to a specific extension by dialing it or give a list of extensions if you do not know a person's extension. It will work on a day/night schedule. During Sundays and evenings and night, only a few phones will ring and it is more likely the auto attendant will answer and offer you a menu. Menu choices will include a recording of name-extension numbers, a search by name, or leaving a message at a voice mail box. You can dial to any person's extension anytime the auto attendant is active. Each community member will have their own voice mail box plus the main office.
Our FAX line will be converted to a service called "e-fax". Faxes sent to our 637-8601 number will be received by our phone provider and converted into an e-mail that will be sent to our regular e-mail address. When our new system is operating, we will be able to send scanned documents to our phone provider that can convert them into a fax transmission for those that prefer to receive documents by fax.
